Corn puffs? Corn Chex? Bugles? They have nothing next to corn Pretz. If you could magically transform creamed corn into a thin crunchy bread sticks you would have corn Pretz. Right on the heels and trying to overtake the initial salty flavoring is the overwhelming sensation of CORN! It’s so corn that you can even taste corn in your nose and sinuses. CORN!

Unfortunately, therein lies the problem: I don’t like creamed corn. It’s better in pretzel/bread stick form but not by much. It’s so pervasively corn that it tastes like I just ate a bowl of corn chowder when the last Pretz I had was a good five minutes ago. I am beginning to think that I’ll be tasting the remnants of corn from now until I brush or go eat a raw onion. Glah!

Other than the ubiquitous CORN, I found these Pretz noticeably saltier than other flavors. CORN and salt are the two predominant flavors that I can taste and they are fighting for recognition rather than coexisting to make a happier, tastier Pretz experience. I will say that they have flavor (CORN!) and seasoning so they are not wanting for depth of taste.

As to texture, they live up to the smooth yet satisfyingly crunchy Pretz stick that I have come to know and love. Pretz are slightly thinner than the American pretzel stick and have less or smaller air pockets so they seem much smoother and more dense.

I can’t say I am all that impressed or even fond of Corn Pretz. If offered at a party I would most likely pass them over for just about any other snack food. They have the redeeming quality of being Pretz but I just can’t get over the CORN! flavor and they are just a tad saltier than I would like. Of course, if you love creamed corn this snack may be for you but I gotta say-

RATING Out of a possible 5, I give Corn Pretz a rating of 2 Wasabi Peas

[8,18,16

post-213","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-20-peas","category-pretz","category-savory
["GET
