Cuttlefish Snack. There’s even a pic of a squid lookin thing (I can only assume it’s a cuddle cuttlefish) on a grill with a pat of butter. Awwww. And is that how one eats cuttlefish? I have no idea. We ate it in cracker snack form a couple Wednesdays ago.

Lemmie talk to you about Cuttlefish snack crackers. Bypassing the whole taste thing for now, I’d like to call your attention to their construction which tickled us pink…and corn colored. I’m not sure if we noticed (and appreciated!) the bi-colored cracker construction first or the fact that they look like little octopus shaped Chex (octochex?). Both traits rather endeared us to this snack food because kawaii!!! (Japanese for really cute, incase you needed a translation.)

We next discovered that they have the most delicate and fantastic crunch we’ve crunched in a long time. It’s a sort of light, airy, crispity crunch one might find in a cheese poof if you could weave a cheese poof to look like an octopus Chex. It’s a lot more delicate in texture than a Chex crunch but with the same crunch body. Can you even do that? Apparently so. As badmovie put it, “If only you could take this crunch and put it with something good!” Whiiiiiich segues us right into the taste.

For those of you who have had aquariums and have fed your fish Tetramin fish food flakes you know exactly where I’m about to go. In fact, if you had been there when I opened the package, you would have smelled where I’m about to go. Cuttlefish snacks taste like I imagine the Tetramin fish flakes do, sort of fishy yet old and stale. A background bothersome fishy taste if you will. It also aftertastes somewhat faintly fishy and all together it’s a rather bleh taste. Not a horrid, nasty bleh taste, just not a bright pleasant one either. Still…fishy. And stale (the taste, certainly not the crunch). Their one redeeming fishy taste quality is that the taste washes out fairly quickly with a chug of water.

So mucho pea points for kawaii and crunch, minus pea points for tasting how we imagine fish food flakes might for a grand total

Rating of 2 Wasabi Peas out of a possible 5.

[8,30,16

post-317","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-20-peas","category-chips","category-savory
["GET
