Also, not only is this a birthday edition of the JSFR, but this entry is the first entry written on the new fabulous WordPress blogging interface thing-it. Snazzy no? I hope I didn’t leave any junkies behind when the booniverse migrated and if I did, I hope you happened upon some Orange Gookie.

We’ve met Gookie before in both Milk and Vanilla flavors and discovered that Milk was OK but Vanilla was much tastier. I like this sort of tasty progression. If Milk landed a 2.5 pea rating and Vanilla a 3.5 rating than unless there is something funky going on with the series, Orange should get a nice glowing pea report. I don’t believe in funky math, especially on my birthday, and for once the universe listened.

Orange Gookie starts out a tad different than its already reviewed cousins in that the stick is much lighter in color and in taste. In fact, there really isn’t a whole lot of cocoa to the stick at all, maybe just the slightest of hintings of cocoa about the edges. Maybe. Otherwise, the Gookie cookie wrap is more reminiscent of regular Pirouette cookies, whatever flavor plain Pirouette cookes happen to be. Tasty good is how I’d describe them, but I’d say that for broccoli and cheese too and that’s two totally different flavors. Lets say think of the body part of a chocolate chip cookie but really thin and crunchity crispy. Add the slightest bit of almost toasty flavor and you’d have the Gookie cookie down pat.

I’m also not certain the Orange Gookie is as thick a wrapped cookie as the Milk or the Vanilla were. Orange certainly have several thin, thin, crispy Gookie cookie layers all rolled up into a tube but I don’t get the dense feeling of having to crunch through several thousand layers of Gookie cookie. With the Vanilla and the Milk, I could tell there were lots of Gookie cookie layers. With the Orange, not so much. I’d say the Orange was just a bit lighter on the crunching, but still crispy.

The coating, however, is where this Gookie shines. Oh, it is tasty. Like the Gookie before it, Orange does not have a whole lot of center goo (just a light coating down the middle) but unlike the Gookie before it, Orange doesn’t seem to need more goo. The orange flavor is so good (and so naturally orange…it even has that slight bite in the beginning that you find with Mandarin oranges) that I didn’t even think about the lack of goo coating. It’s also nicely sweet. And orange. Did I mention the orange? I might not need to if you’ve opened a pack because you probably can already taste the orange as the scent wafts through the air.

I see no reason to halt a nice regular series of pea ratings, so I’m going to give Gookie (orange) a Rating of 4.5 Wasabi Peas out of a possible 5.

[13,28,21

post-387","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-45-peas","category-cookie","category-sweet
["GET
