We really need to do something…<strike>wonderful</strike> (sorry, I have no monoliths to review) awesome for Leap Day!” Myself said, “We could do that soda…?” buuuuut liquids take a lot of work to set up the pic and they make Sean Whose Name is Nate nervous. That fact alone amuses me enough to consider it but I’d be inviting Karma to bzzzort my computer in a tragic JSFR soda accident if I did. Then I thought about the squid things but badmovie suggested I save those for beer drinking night when I’ll have captive Guinea Pigs. You can’t argue with that logic so ixnay on the quidsay. Myself half heartedly threw out the little caramel things but I sort of wanted to pick up the other flavor they are close to and do a comparison taste testing.

Thus I was stumped until I looked at the JSFR queue and saw these sitting there marking time. Might as well review them since they’ve been floating around waiting for me to write the words and take the pic and all. So I fired up the entry and lo! Apparently I’ve already taken their picture. Bonus! All I had to do was review them. So I did.

I’m not a big fan of these “Jell-o” cups; I had one once at a party and it was pretty vile. They are Japanese…ish (Taiwanese if you want to make a point of it but every Asian Grocery store around here carries them so…) and since I do a Japanese (and other lands…sadly so in this case) snack food review and these did seem to be everywhere, I assumed that eventually I’d have to get to them. I was rather hoping that eventually was well, well, well down the road and also that nobody else mentioned them and that I had reviewed everything else that there is to review before having to hit these. Given all the Pocky and Pretz out there I’d probably be safe until the end of time with my philosophy.

Then Guinea Pig DQ gave me this pack for Christmas. ARRRGH!

OK, I confess that I am really amused by these cups because the peel off top is all poofy. Maybe it’s a freshness seal thing but with the general squishiness of the “Jell-o” and the air poofy of the peel off top these are incredibly fun to wobble around in your fingers. And squish. Squishy-squishy-squishy. I could amuse myself for hours without it even being opened.

Once you do open it, you will find a little square thing in your “Jell-o”. We were a bit taken aback but once we decided that it was a cube of lychee we were good. That’s actually sort of neat, like a fruit cup Jell-o deelie. A fruit cup Jell-o deelie which has the consistancy of a good solid finger Jell-o. And a tad of Jell-o water around the edges.

I’ve done some lychee flavored JSF before but it’s been a bit and not everyone’s familiar with the fruit. It’s a sort of a tart unripe plum taste if you will and might take some getting used to if this is your first time lycheeing. Or your second. Possibly your third. I might recommend these “Jelly snacks” if you are a lychee novice though, they are sweet with the jelly, which cuts the tart a bit. They also have a pretty tasty lychee flavor too. And a chunk of fruit. Plus, they’re wobbly.

Lastly…Fruitery. Heh. But of course fruitery. What else?

Rating of 3.5 wasabi peas out of a possible 5 wasabi peas.

[11,21

post-502","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-35-peas","category-sweet
["GET
