I found a third company that does Mochi…Lotte! Also, I have even more interesting info about the Lotte company. I’ve been calling them Korean which…sorta. According to Godzilla, Lotte was founded by a Korean fella working in Japan who named his company after Charlotte, a character in a Goethe story (that bit of news is from the Lotte site itself). That’s quite multinational!

Anyway, Mochi. From Lotte. Can I get a SQUEEE? Because check them out: TINY MOCHI!!! Kawaii!! These mochi are little bite sized rice wrapped bits of ice cream just like all other ice cream mochi I’ve run into. Unlike the other mochis, which were a bit big for the one bite nomming, Lotte’s mochi are definitely bite sized. You can easily pop the whole thing in your mouth or chomp them up in two bites if you’re feeling zesty. Plus pea points for the tiny.

Lotte is packaging their petit mochi in a three pack of vanilla, chocolate and green tea, which why hasn’t anyone else thought of this before? I love that you can go digging for whatever flavor you are hankering for at the moment. Is it a vanilla day? It’s in there. Having a chocolate thing instead? No worries, you can find those in there too. Green tea? I don’t know why you would want to but you could with this multi pack. And with 21 pieces you have 7 each of the flavors which is a right decent amount to play with. BRILLIANT!

As far as the individual mochiness of the mochi, they aren’t packaged with the ultimate in ice cream. It’s not bad, the chocolate being the best of the three, but it certainly is no Chocolate Choclate or Haagen-Dazs. Still, it’s decent ice cream with a smooth texture and a nice creaminess. The vanilla is a middle of the road serviceable vanilla (I liken it to those individual ice cream cup deelies in terms of taste). The green tea, which I’m not fond of in any form, is bitter and tastes of sweet creamy grass clippings. In other words, probably a decent middle of the road green tea ice cream. The chocolate is the best with a dark chocolatesque bite.

I also noticed that the rice pastry wrappings are less thick than the bigger mochis and they aren’t quite as rice flour dusty. In short, they have the yum and the kawaii to manage a

Rating of 3.5 wasabi peas out of 5.

[11,23,21

post-533","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-35-peas","category-mochi","category-sweet
["GET
