\nI am a huge fan of those British waffle looking cookies with the caramel layer. You know the ones that you put over the top of your hot tea so the caramel layer gets all gooey and delicious? I think they might be made by McVities<\/a> but whoever makes them, every once in a while I’ll snag a sleeve and have a most excellent tea and cookies afternoon. During my last snack food shopping trip I happened upon these fellas from Lotte<\/a> and I immediately thought of the British tea cookies. They aren’t, of course (being Korean and all) but you never know what you are going to discover if you don’t throw a few random waffle cookies into your basket.<\/p>\n

When I got them home I discovered that there were several other differences between my coveted British tea cookies and these Lotte Waffles, the first being size. Lotte Waffles are much smaller than the tea cup covering biscuits; I think the only cup Lotte Waffles would cover is perhaps a demitasse. The waffles also don’t have a caramelly layer and they resemble pizzelles more so than they do my British Tea biscuits but you know what? I don’t care.<\/p>\n

You heard me, tasty caramel British tea biscuits. I am not bothered one iota that Lotte waffle cones are not the Korean equivalent of your (pricey) tea biscuit because Lotte Waffles might be even better. Take a tiny pizzelle, infuse it with delicious caramel and waffle cone flavor and give it a superb crispity crisp that grabs your attention and then stick 4 waffles to a pack and you will exactly have Lotte Waffles. As one of my Guinea Pigs said, “These waffles are like ‘I’ll show the effing Italians how to do pizzelles!'” They do too, so not only might they be thumbing their delicious noses at the Brit’s tea biscuits, they are showing up the Italians to boot.<\/p>\n

I’ll tell you one thing, these little critters do what they do exceedingly well. <\/p>\n
