A co-worker of mine who knows far more about cars than I do sent me a link to an Auto Week article about Porche’s latest SUV offering. You have to realize that when it comes to car news, I’m out-of-touch enough that I hadn’t realized that Porche made an SUV.
In addition to the sudden shock of education, there were two lines that really leaped out of the first paragraphs.
- “It’ll be powered by a lightly tuned version of Volkswagen?s 3.2-litre V6 engine?as used in the Golf R32, among other models?at the Frankfurt auto show next month.”
- “The current Porsche truck lineup is priced at $55,900 for the S and $88,900 for the Turbo.”
We did some poking around… The VW Golf R32 isn’t available in the US, but in Australia it’s selling for the equivalent of roughly $40,400 US dollars. So for the price of one high-end SUV, you could get a really nice hatchback and deck it out with nearly $50,000 in after-market features.
Or a second hatchback.
