Construction blues

One of my favorite buildings is gone. It was an old brick apartment building near the medical campus. It probably had terrible problems with old electrical wiring, leaky plumbing, poor ventilation and all sorts of stuff, but it was a neat old place. It had a very 1920’s look to it. The facade was red and yellow brick and it had a red tile roof with ancient green copper gutters. There were all sorts of bizarre little decorative accents in tile and copper on and around the balconies and the windows. For all I know, the place was abandoned and vacant for years. I never knew anyone who lived there, and I never saw any lights on, but the place was oddly beautiful and I’m going to miss seeing it.
