There’s a new little ‘bug’ on the bottom of the links column… Clicking on it will take you to the site for a handy Movable Type plugin called “MT-Blacklist”. Among other things, it does a sort of pre-flight check of comments before posting to see if they contain links to any of a list of banned sites. If they do, the comments don’t get posted. It’s a bit heavy-handed, but it’s an effective tool to deal with some of the problems I’ve started to see…
Just for the record, this is not a commercial enterprise. I don’t make a dime off of this site. I don’t sell ad space. I don’t have a paypal donation button. I don’t even have an Amazon referral deal. I do this because it’s fun. And if someone else tries to make money off of me having fun, I’m going to boot their stuff from the site. No debate, no second guessing. I’m the tin-pot dictator of this little realm, and what I say goes.
One of the things that kind of depresses me about pictures of big cities is how every flat vertical surface seems to get covered with posters advertising all sorts of stuff. I don’t want this site to become like that.
