Fun story from driving in the rain on Friday… I was heading in to pick my wife up from work and saw that there was water over Hogback road. I was slowing down to take a better look at things, which seemed to annoy the guy in the SUV behind me. When I stopped before the water’s edge he leaned on his horn and flashed his lights, so I rolled down the window and waved him past.
He roared around me and took off into the water, revealing a line of folks behind him who decided to wait patiently behind me. We all got to watch him roar into water that quickly topped his wheels, then the bottom of his doors… When it got to about mid-way up the side of his car, some must have gotten into the engine compartment, because he sort of glooshed to a stop right in the middle of the pond.
When I saw that the driver was OK, I gave him a jaunty goodbye wave, did a quick circle gesture in the air and pointed to a side road about twenty yards back, then led the patient folks behind me in a convoy on an alternate route through a subdivision that had escaped submersion.
