Cool things that I’ve lost

I’m kind of bummed. I’ve lost a really cool pair of sunglasses that I got a few years ago at a gaming convention. They were big, round-lensed safety glasses with dark green lenses and leather side shields. They kind of reminded me of something that Thomas Dolby might have worn in a music video or something. I’d gotten them from the fine folks at Studo Foglio… And yes, I’ve checked their online store. They have similar items, but nothing that can be worn over top of prescription glasses.

I’m also missing a power adapter. There are vere few things that are more annoying than to have a really handy bit if computer equipment that you can’t use because you can’t plug it in. It’s a Griffen PowerWave USB audio breakout box and amplifier. And yes, I know it’ll do most everything with power from the USB bus, but it won’t function as a stand-alone amplifier without external power. And while I was grumping around all ill over the weekend I wanted to hook it up with the midi keyboard and synth upstairs so that I could plunk around and hear just how out of practice I am.

I’ve sent off emails to both Griffen and Studo Foglio to see if they can help me track down replacements… Web searches for “round lens safety goggles” have been uniformly disappointing and I’d rather not just plug any old spare power supply into the PowerWave. We’ll see what the results are.

Wow. Talk about customer service! While I was writing this, I got an e-mail back from Griffin’s tech support: They’ll send a new power supply my way for $5. I just need to call them up and arrange payment and shipping address. Very nice, and very quick turnaround.
