Ok, for the first time in an age and a half, I’m using a Campus computing cluster machine. It’s kinda freaky.
Mostly, the oddness has to do with the relative age differential between myself and the other site users. I’m a grizzled old geek in my 30’s and they’re mostly pre 20’s freshlings and sophomoria. I think I scare some of them.
Of course, I’m here because of work. I just got done shooting a batch of photos at a banquet for Anesthesiologists and Sleep researchers and now I’m waiting for my lovely wife to come pick me up.
The banquet lecture was really quite cool, touching on a bunch of different topics about how sleep (and lack of sleep) affect the mind and body. Apparently, if you’re getting less than 8 hours of sleep a night, your ability to perform tasks starts to suffer. But that’s ok, because you’ll be so tired you won’t notice your inexorable march toward incompetence…
