Ok, we’re up North, the wireless network is set up, and I’ve recovered from the drive.
Of course, it took a four hour nap to do that… And if you’re good at math and Michigan geography you’ve figured out that we got here remarkably early. We actually rolled in to town at around ten AM.
That means we left home around two.
Or as my Wife calls it sometimes, “Oh-Dark-Hundred.”
There are some really good things about highway driving in the wee hours. For one thing, there’s practically no traffic apart from you and the heavy trucks. For another thing, there’s none of that distracting “scenery” type stuff. Oh it’s out there, lurking, but you can’t see it, so it’s easy to ignore.
Until dawn. We were somewhere around Grayling when that happened. Really impressive red clouds and golden horizon, filtered through early morning post-rain atmosphere. Very pretty. I’ll see if I can post any of the photos my Wife took, but when I was going down to the basement to set up the network, she was up in the kitchen cursing out the camera’s focal problems…
