Has it been almost two years since I last sang the praises of Nixanz software? How remiss of me.
For those of you with elephantine memories, that’s the company which made the software which made addressing tons of wedding invites so incredibly easy. They also make a really cool recipe book program called “Yum!”
There’s three things about the program that are really cool. First off, it’s free. Second, it’ll re-scale recipes for you. Third, it comes with a neat set of demo recipes. So if you have the sudden urge to make Roast Wallaby for 5, all you need to do is open up the demo book and put in the number of servings.
The reason I bring this up is that we’ve been doing some housecleaning recently, and I found a stack of 3×5 card sized recipes that I got from my mom ‘way back when I was moving out of the dorms and into the student apartment slums. I’ve started going through them and plugging them into the database, one or two every lunch hour. Once I’ve got them all together, I’ll post a link here for folks to download them for their own enjoyment…
