Waiting for the Robert E. Lee – Waiting for the Robert E. Lee, 5.5 MB mp3 file.

Take Me to the Caberet – Billy Murray, 5.8 MB mp3 file.

Two classic ragtime tunes originally recorded in 1912.

Victor 1630

Please Let Me Sleep – Arthur Collins. 3.4 MB mp3 file.

Sick as a dog today, so I’m posting this and going back to bed. This was originally recorded in 1902 and the disc was another one where the scratches were more numerous than the grooves. I’ve done some cleanup, but there are a lot of digital noise reduction artifacts. Still, the title is appropriate, and the song sounds like how I feel.

Spring is Here – Irving Aaronson and His Commanders, 6.1 MB mp3 file.

He Ain’t Done Right By Nell – Irving Aaronson and His Commanders, 5.2 MB mp3 file.

A couple of novelty tunes here to help welcome in the spring.

Victor 19804

Dreaming of To-Morrow – Coon-Sanders Original Nighthawk Orchestra, 6.1 MB mp3 file.

Lonesome – Ted Weems and His Orchestra, 5.8 MB mp3 file.

Columbia A1608

It’s a Long, Long Way to Tipperary – Stanley Kirkby, 6.1 MB mp3 file.

A little something in pre-celebration of St. Patrick’s day. Originally recorded in 1913.

And according to Google Earth, it’s approximately 3440 miles from here to Tipperary.

Victor 22004

Am I Blue? – Nat Shilkret and the Victor Orchestra, 5.7 MB mp3 file

Let Me Have My Dreams – Nat Shilkret and the Victor Orchestra, 6.1 MB mp3 file

A couple of sad love songs today. No particular reason, except that I love the bandleader’s name.

Victor 60000

I’ve Something in the Bottle for the Morning (Fu’ th’ Noo’) – Harry Lauder. 4.2 MB mp3 file.

A litlte song of drink and debauchery from 1909. This is the original 1-sided Victor purple label release. It was re-released in early 1921 as the “A” side of Victor 45205.

I think that my great grandfather must have been a Harry Lauder fan. There’s at least half a dozen of his records in the collection that I digitized.

Victor 20900

Someday You’ll Say “O. K.” – Johnny Hamp’s Kentucky Serenaders, 5.6 MB mp3 file

It All Belongs To Me – Johnny Hamp’s Kentucky Serenaders, 5.8 MB mp3 file

Two highly danceable tunes from 1927. They’re both kind of stalker-like, but in an upbeat way. Sort of like a fast, foxtrot version of “Every Breath You Take.”

Victor 20327

Do Do Do – George Olsen and His Music, 5.7 MB mp3 file

Clap Yo’ Hands – Roger Wolfe Kahn and his Hotel Biltmore Orchestra, 6.1 MB mp3 file

Victor 20327, sides A & B, 1926

A little bit of George and Ira Gershwin for you all. These are from the musical comedy “Oh, Kay!” There’s some static and record noise still in these files – I didn’t want to do too much noise reduction since that can introduce a bit of distortion.

Victor 70061 – Valentine’s Day Musical Special

Roamin’ in the Gloamin’ – Harry Lauder. 5.7 MB mp3 file.

Victor 70061 from 1911.

A romantic little comic song in a Scotch dialect. This is one of the older, single sided Victor records. The audio on this has got some noise reduction artifacts, and sometimes the vocals are a bit tough to make out, but it’s not too bad.
