One of our friends has already begun planning his Halloween party. Obviously, it’s not even October yet, but I guess it never hurts to be prepared. So we’ve been doing some pre-Halloween costume contemplation at the House of Q.

Via Neil Gaiman’s blog, there’s a fascinating site called “The Art of Retouching” showing before & after photos from Glenn Feron’s portfolio. A lot of them are glamour and cheesecake shots, and it’s incredibly useful to see what gets emphasized (and de-emphasized) in the process from original photograph to final published version. Check it out.

We’re testing out some new potential poster printers at work, and I’ve been tasked with coming up with torturous files to see what makes ’em break. So I came up with an Illustrator file combining complex bezier curves, transparent fills and overlapping masks. It makes a lot of postscript printers cry for mercy, but I think it looks kind of cool.

One of my co-workers put the little model-guy that my Wife gave me for Christmas into an appropriate pose for Monday mornings.

Now if it had only been a stylish and functional Coffee Warning mug, this would have been the perfect photo.

This is my sisters cat Thufer. He got into the basement on Thursday and hid out. Of course, he stayed schtum, so there was no hint that he hadn’t managed to get outside…

My awesome wife made cookies for Voting Day. Equal numbers of Donkeys and Elephants, and one Tree (since we didn’t have a Sunflower) for the Green party.

And GRR!!! And here’s hoping the 50 kids who’ve stopped by so far have enjoyed the hackey sacks and the skeletal paratroopers we’ve been handing out…
