Tahitian Vanilla Pocky

Posted in 4.0 Wasabi Pea Rating, Pocky, Sweet at 8:37 pm by Boo

Check it out, the JSFR has a new blog all of its very own! I was trying to figure out what to do for the JSFR’s blogaversary and TheMan suggested he whip up a little blog thing and look! TADA!

I picked up this tasty new Pocky at the most Korean of Asian Grocery Stores during the after breakfast outing with TheMan and Scott H. I’m always amused when I find a new flavor of Pocky because there’s been what? About three bazillion flavors so far? Oh wait, we can look up exactly how many Pocky I’ve reviewed so far because we have categories now. Check THAT out! OK, I’m still working out the bumps with the new site so give me a bit to get it all settled in but when I do? It’ll be awesome! Or at least very categorific.

Tahitian Vanilla Pocky! Yum. This Pocky smells deliciously vanilla right out of the package (and speaking of package, I love the red thing they have going on with the inner wrapper). My favorite Guinea Pig says it’s a fruity vanilla but I think it’s more of a flowery vanilla. Whatever, it smells really good in an extra vanilla-y way. Mmmmm.

As far as taste, Tahitian Vanilla really brings on the creamy sweet. And the vanilla. Wow. The vanilla. I’m thinking Tahitian vanilla is some sort of vanilla on steroids because it’s pretty darned vanillatastic. I’d say that anyone who thinks vanilla is a mamby-pamby flavor should try one of these. I’m a little sad about the thinish coating of Pocky goo but that didn’t stop the flavor from coming through nice and strong.

The stick is the stick is the stick. In this case Tahitian Vanilla went with the vanilla grahamish stick. Nice, simple crunchity. I liked this Pocky, TheMan liked it, so we put our heads together and decided on a

rating of 4 wasabi peas out of a possible 5 wasabi peas.

Ooh, that looks tasty. Vanilla is a real kick-ass flavor, and it’s a shame that most people think of “vanilla” as “plain” because true vanilla has a yummy flavor and scent.

They were pretty darned tasty. I’d get these again just to munch on.

Locally these came from Manna over a year ago so it may be that Glico has discontinued this particular flavor. If not, then I’d suggest your local Asian food haunts or keep an eye on J-List to see if they pop up there.
