KitKat (cherry blossom)

Posted in 3.5 Wasabi Pea Rating, KitKat, Sweet at 11:30 pm by Boo

If Irish Springs made candy would it not be exactly this? No? Well maybe it’s just me then.

We’re back to KitKats this Valentine’s Day and what better snack than cherry blossom KitKat? Actually, I have no answer for that question but I do have some answers for you about cherry blossom KitKat. Yes, they do look like they could be little tiny KitKat shaped pink Irish Springs soap planks and I’ll stand by that observation. I’ll also hum the Irish Springs theme song in my head but only because that’s a fairly natural progression. I won’t suggest you shower with these though, that would be nasty.

It would appear that cherry blossom KitKats favor the white chocolate with light pink swirling rather than the milk chocolate with pink swirling. Why peach was milk chocolate and cherry blossom is white chocolate is a question I have no answer to. Personally I would have reversed the chocolate flavors because cherry and milk chocolate seem like the obvious choice while peach and white chocolate seem better suited to each other but what do I know. I am not a kitkateer.

The cherry blossom KitKat smells of cherries but also a titch floral as well…which should surprise no one given that they are called “cherry blossom” KitKats. It is a strange flavor though… I don’t expect KitKats to smell or taste like an FTD store but here you have it; cherry with a nice faint foralness. As far as taste, the floral is drowned out by the decent cherry flavor as well as the the vanilla-y of the white chocolate. However, way up in the sinuses you can still get a hint of flowers. Cherry Blossom indeed.

There was a bit of dissention among the Pigs when it came time to rate these. Two were overjoyed with cherry blossom delight and pushed for a 4 rating. One was not so much on the cherry blossom KitKat band wagon and pushed for a 2.5. The remaining three Pigs thought 3.5 would be a fair rating. That’s a little too much non 4 pea dissent for me to rate these higher than 3.5 but looking back at the Green Tea and the above linked Peach, I’d say that of the three, Cherry Blossom was the best. So although it isn’t quite 4 pea, it’s a little bit better than the other two 3.5 pea rated KitKats. Again with the lack of smaller pea division but as you read the

Rating of 3.5 wasabi peas out of a possible 5 wasabi peas, mentally add a titch more pea for the Cherry Blossom.

One year I remember there being cherry-flavored Kit-Kat minis available in the US for Valentine’s Day. They were a solid pink color rather than being striped or swirled like the cherry blossom is. If this tastes anything like those minis did, I’m sure I’d love it!

Sadly, I either missed out on those or I completely blanked because I don’t rightly remember them. However, I think the cherry blossom KitKat would be a tad different in that there is definitely a flowery component to them that I’m pretty sure an American candy wouldn’t have. Also, the cherry flavoring is really pretty good, which I often find isn’t the case. If you don’t mind a bit of flower-y oddness, I think you might indeed like these.

Man, I love watching cash cab but I don’t get to see it very often. I wonder if I would have gotten the answer?

I just saw the episode of cash cab that the kitkat question was in. Hence, I am looking for some place to buy them because they sound really good. In my search, I have also seen ginger ale flavored kitkats but the site I found was sold out of them. They sounded intriguing though.
