Tohato Boy’s Day Nagewa Nori Shio (potato snack)
Finally I am done with one of my snack stashes – this Tohato munchie finishes off the last of the snacks from Hawaii. Huzzah! Unfortunately I went off on a nut and did some JSFR house cleaning which means that I got rid of all my expired snacks while photographing the remaining ones. This also means I need to go shopping for at least 3 more snacks if I’m to make it out to December. Awwww shucks, snack buying. Well if I must.
Getting back to the Tohato potato snacks, in a nut shell these are the same nicely crunchy, blandly tasty potato slurry rings from last week but with a sprinkling of nori for a bit of sea weedy flavor. Oh don’t go running off screaming quite yet my Junkies, for the delightful blandness extends to the sea weed as well. I’m quite surprised at how non-fishy the sea weed is. You can taste it in the light dusting and you can faintly smell the sea weedy but it’s not any more prevalent than the salt or potato-y of the rings. If more things did nori like this I’d be a sea weed convert.
Actually, I lied just a little in that last paragraph. These potato snacks are indeed very similar to the mild salt potato snack with one structural difference: These rings are big enough to actually fit over your fingers. Yes, you can stack them up and eat them like potato ring bling if you want to. Not that I’m doing that right now; that would be silly. I usually test the structuralness of a snack before biting into it.
For getting nori tasty and for a delightfully addictive bland potato crunchy I’d give these a 3.75 pea rating if I could. I don’t split peas that fine so mentally add an extra quarter pea to a
Rating of 3.5 Wasabi Peas out of a possible 5.
