Black Sesame Cake
Ooooo look, it’s the dark version of Sesame Cakes made with black sesame seeds. And there are a lot of seeds too. These cakes, white and black, are packed to the gills with sesame. You certainly do get your sesame’s worth with these snacks.
Black sesame cakes have a similar nutty flavor to the white sesame cakes but instead of a light honey companion taste, they have a dark toasted caramel flavor. Other than that, and the fact that black sesame is black colored rather than light buff colored, they are very similar to the white sesame cakes. They have the same peanut brittle like crunch and a very slight dryness about them from the profusance of sesame.
Speaking of sesame, those little critters can get everywhere. My counter is peppered black from cracking off sections of the cake and I’m sure my teeth are just as pretty. Still, these are tasty critters and every bit as good as their white sesame counterparts. Thus, I think I’ll give them a similar
Rating of 4 wasabi peas out of a possible 5 wasabi peas.
