Blueberry Pocky

Posted in 4.0 Wasabi Pea Rating, Pocky, Sweet at 12:20 am by Boo

This month I am showcasing snacks brought to you from Wizzywig (which you can read all about over in the “Where Does it Come From?” page up there in the right hand side off the main JSFR page). This particular Pocky I did not happen to buy but it did come from Wizzywig so I saved it for now.

Waaaaaaay back in the infancy of the JSFR I picked up some Blueberry Cheesecake Pocky so blueberry flavor isn’t exactly a new Pocky to the Review. Plain blueberry is, although there are some similarities. Both have a very thin coating but a big blueberry smell and an equally robust blueberry taste. I’d say that plain blueberry is a little less creamy tasting and possibly a little more fruity but it’s hard to remember back 5 years to be absolutely sure.

We did like the packaging though. My notes for this snack say:
+ Blueberry flavor
+BB smell
+packaging
and of course a rating. We’ve had a couple packages of Asian snacks that had a verso side that was 90 degrees off but I’m not sure we’ve ever had that in Pocky. I’d have photographed the “usual” side but the ingredients sticker was slapped over the tall side. Ah well. Since the majority of my Guinea Pigs remarked on the pleasing aesthetics of the packaging I thought I’d give that a mention. Besides having cute little blueberry bundles on the outside, the inside is a nice pale blueberry purple color.

You can also open this package sideways like a store display deelie, which is unusual for Pocky. Plus, check out the blueberriness of the coating. Yum!

Blueberry Pocky has a nice berry blueberry taste with that delightful grahamesque Pocky stick crunch. Yum. And since we all noted the pleasing look of the packaging, Glico’s marketing staff seems to be doing their job well. The Pigs and I thought a bit and decided to give Blueberry Pocky a

Rating of 4 wasabi peas out of a possible 5 wasabi peas.

I liked that box so much, I made it into a pencil case. They actually are awesome once you cover it in laminate!

Does the case still smell like blueberry? Because that would wrock, except I’d keep wanting to eat the pencils. Heh, pencil case. That’s awesome.

I’m pretty sure I’ve tried these, but I can’t remember. I did like the other Pocky I’ve tried with a similar box, I think it was chestnut.

I found this stuff today at a convention. I have never tasted Pocky this awesome, except maybe the strawberry variation with chunks of strawberry in the coating. Mm.

I want to find these blueberry ones, immortality on a stick! But I have had the strawberry ones as mentioned above, and yum!
