Hello Boss Barley Black Tea

Posted in 3.0 Wasabi Pea Rating, Beverage, Sweet at 12:05 am by Boo

Hola all, I’m slowly catching up to current times and perhaps one day I’ll actually be posting on the day the review is supposed to go up. Hah. Hahha! HAHAHAHHAH! Oh I slay me with the funny. Anyway, today I have for you some Hello Boss which is not coffee. I had no idea that was even a possibility but here it is, in the flesh. Can. Whatever, Barley Black Tea!

I have no idea what barley black tea is other than black tea which might be hanging out with barley. Perhaps they are roasted together or the barley flowers are mixed into the tea leaf mix. I suppose I could look it up but I’m behind enough as is with the reviews so I’ll just chalk it up to another flavor of tea and continue on.

So. Tea. Hello Boss’s Barley Black Tea is a pretty brown color and smells like your standard house black tea. It also has another smell which is sort of a dark roasted cereal smell. My favorite Guinea Pig suggests Honey Smacks as the cereal in question and now that I’ve heard that, I can’t smell anything but Honey Smacks. Tea flavored Honey Smacks. Yum.

I’d love to tell you that the review goes in a different direction but alas, Barley Black Tea tastes a little bit like tea flavored Honey Smacks. It’s an incredibly sweet drink (a 4 or 5 sugar lump kind of sweet) and in the background is a pervasive wheatyness hanging out with a decent black tea flavor. The weirdest thing about this whole review is that Honey Smack tea is pretty tasty. I don’t think I’d go out and buy a case of it but I might drink a can someone handed to me.

Rating of 3 wasabi peas out of a possible 5 wasabi peas.

I’ve been drinking pure barley tea (no black tea) for a couple of years now and I love it. It has a nice roasted flavor but very little bitterness.

I also see that Hello Boss brand sometimes at the dollar store, they have a coffee drink … I just love the name!

Hi Cybele! I’m more a black tea drinker so the bitterness doesn’t really bother me. The roasted wheaty is different but in a tea that wasn’t as sweet it might be a nice smoothing flavor to the usual black tea taste.

Hello Boss used to come in much cooler cans (I’m very sad about the package redesign) but the inside is still a very tasty coffee drink. Plus, HEE for the Hello Boss name.

Heh, claw…I never though that you could get your tea and morning meal in one drink that way. Clever!

Honey Smacks aren’t my favorite but to each their own. I think this would be a better drink if it weren’t so sweet but I tend to not put any sugar or honey in my tea so…
