Mr. Squid Rollered Seasoned Squid
Heh…Mr. Squid. That’s awesome and hey! Flat squid. I picked this up at Hua Xing thinking that this might just be that one dried squid snack that doesn’t suck. It does say “Delicious and Fun” so that’s promising. Plus check out Mr. Squid.
He totally wrocks.
Mr. Squid sadly smells of dried fish food flakes like pretty much every other dried squid snack. Hrrrm. It’s not an appetizing smell really and that is sad because Mr. Squid is kinda tasty. It’s a little chewy in a fish jerkyesque way which may or may not be appealing but the squid flavor is mildly decent. And squidy in a natural from the sea (and dried, flattened and jerkyed) sort of way. There is also an interesting initial sweet flavor followed by a robust bitey spicy flavor. The spicy lingers quite a bit as a pleasant after burn with a hint of the sweet to keep it company. The squidy flavor does not and that’s a nice plus. If it weren’t for the smell I might even snack on these here and there.
I think for the American palate Mr. Squid’s Rollered Seasoned Squid is probably at most a 2 pea snack. I also suspect that if you are used to snackering on dried fish, Mr. Squid’s flat squid snacks are probably a pea to a pea and a half point better than a 2 pea rating. If you are a cat, Mr. Squid is a 4 pea snack and why am I still writing and not feeding you more Mr. Squid? Personally, I’d give Mr. Squid a 2.5, minus a half pea for the smell but plus a half pea for the amusing packaging and the fact that my cat won’t let me off the couch unless I feed him more Mr. Squid.
My cat has no thumbs and can’t type so I’ll go ahead and give Mr. Squid’s Rollered Seasoned Squid a
Rating of 2.5 wasabi peas out of a possible 5 wasabi peas.

It has not ceased being fun…at least the part where the cat goes “Oh! Please to feed me more SQUID!!” I can’t say the smell is very fun though. Pew!
