Bali’s Best Espresso Candy
I found more coffee candy! Out of Indonesia (and distributed through Gardena California) here’s a nice filled coffee hard candy. It reminds me in construction to Esprezzo Black Coffee candy except these candies are good. There is a slight over roasted taste but not so much that it detracts from the tasty coffee flavor. Or maybe it’s spot on Arabica because I’ve had a bit of Arabica coffee at an excellent Middle Eastern restaurant and it tasted much like this candy. It could be that you can’t get that strong a roast without a little toastiness.
One thing the flavor is not, is bitter. Surprisingly this hard candy isn’t particularly sweet either, there seems to be enough hard candy sweetness to offset the strong coffee flavor without pushing it over into the “five lump of sugar” area. The gooey center is also rather tasty, although the candy coating tends to shatter into shardy bits when you get close enough to it. Not so awesome but not lethal either.
Espressoteric Wisdom. I blame the distribution out of California for this.
Rating of 4 Wasabi Peas out of a possible 5.
