Toppo (cassis mousse & orange liqueur)

OooooOOooo! The J-List order came in — Hooray! Badmovie went a little crazy with the Japanese snack buying so this and the rest of the bag will be part of the official badmovie sponsored snacks. Also, I’m here with the Guinea Pigs and thought I just might real time review this. Then I thought why don’t I let the Pigs say what they think in their own typing? Brilliant! And I don’t have to do much typing. HoHO!

I’ll go first. You might notice that there is one large Toppo and one small Toppo in the picture. Apparently the ride over from Japan was a bit rough and that one long one was the only one that survived intact. Still, it’s HUGE! Look at how much Toppo that is! The rest of the Toppo is very nice, very fruity smelling and the filling is a pretty light lavender. It’s got good crunch and the filling is creamy and smoothly citrus. Because I like to notice these things, the new Toppo boxes have stylin’ rounded corners and glossy glossy pretty print. Neat! I’d give it a 3.5-4.

LunarGeography: It’s sweet, but not excessively so, and the fruit scent is strong and not at all chemical-laden. I could totally start munching on these and accidentally finish the whole box. Mmmm, whole box of orange/not-very-terribly tart rasberry goodness. I’d give it a 4.

DQ: Nicely lightly sweet, cracker outside is a little salty but that’s a nice contrast, filling reminds me of a multi berry yoghurt. Orange flavor is very very light. I could easily see munching my way through a box of these. I’d give it a 4.

Paul the Other: A snack to savor. It’s a good mix of cracker and berry flavor. Worth eating slowly. Easy to make a whole box disappear. A well earned 4.

Badmovie: The filling is a nice orange-currant flavor, nice and thick. Good ratio of outer crunch stick to inner fruity smooth filling. I’m not usually a big currant fan, but this is really really nice (today’s special word). At least four peas. I would be willing to go up to 4.5, but it’s not quite enough to hit the caramel tohato level of perfection that is 5 peas. That’s not going to stop me from having another one, however.

TheMan: A fine, fruity bouquet, redolant of currant, orange and possibly blueberry. Sweet and perfumy flavor, subtle cracker exterior and faintly syrupy chewy inside. The only minor detraction is that the sweetness overpowers the fruit, making it difficult to identify the actual fruit which is flavoring things. I did discover, however that quite a while after eating it the sweetness lingers a bit unpleasantly. I may call it a 3.5 to 4, probably closest to the 4.

Rating of 4 wasabi peas out of a possible 5 wasabi peas.
